Well over ten years ago now I told a former co-worker that I’d write a “How-To” meditation manual for her. Unfortunately for her I never got around to doing so before leaving that job. As a rule, it is never a good idea to leave an intention unfulfilled, so here is the report and run-through of how my meditation technique has evolved over the past thirty-five years.
As I already chronicled in Thank you, J.T., my meditation history traces back to the tender young age of nine years old. The most lasting and profound knowledge, from that week at the United Swim Clinic summer camp, was the full body relaxation and creative visualization technique. This single session set the stage for the path the rest of my life would take.
For the next seven years, even after my competitive swimming career came to an end, I continued to apply the relaxation and visualization techniques to other sports which I played. Baseball and soccer did not have specific time goals, however I would seek to conjure up success in the upcoming game action all the same. It is highly likely that in these depictions of future events, I was training myself for the greater precognitive events to come.
At the age of sixteen, during that fateful junior year at Mercersburg Academy, I began recreating with Lord Shiva’s Holy Sacrament. These experiments would happen late at night, but with no place else to go but my own bed, I began applying the techniques to help myself get to sleep. After a few nights it became clear to me that my meditations were shallow and limited. So, in those pre-internet days of the mid-1980’s, I searched the school library for any books I may find on the subject. There were several books to choose from, but the one which resonated most was one which detailed the colors and attributes of the chakras. My focus became extending the chakras, imagined as spinning vortexes, out into the infinity of the universe. This added step was a giant leap forward. In no time I found myself projecting into the stratosphere, looking down upon the Earth. As soon as I realized where I was, I projected myself flying first ahead of time, then backwards in time, around our spinning globe.
Almost immediately anomalous occurrences began to happen during my daily waking life. Precognition and déjà vu became commonplace. While in my dorm room, I could predict the identity of an unannounced visitor, minutes before their arrival. On the baseball diamond, I would know, before the pitch was thrown, what the resulting play would be. While driving, I would sense a police speed-trap up to a mile before coming upon it. While these clairvoyant events would not happen at every moment of the day, they were steadily increasing in regularity.
Eventually I grew into my abilities. Sometimes they would manifest as a gut feeling, other times as a vision. Either way, the premonitions were almost always on target. However, there were many occasions in which I would not trust my instincts. This was my young ego getting in the way, rationalizing how and why the instinct must be wrong.
One of my more remarkable achievements, during those heady days of my late teens, was how I stumbled upon Remote Viewing. Before setting out on road-trips, I would imagine the route, seeking out any potential obstacles or dangers. Almost every time I would correctly foresee traffic, speed-traps, and problem spots. In several cases, I am certain that I prevented unwanted outcomes. In The Lost Key, the author Robert Lomas compares Remove Viewing to the notion of atomic bi-location, or the Wave-Particle Duality, as described by Quantum Physics. This leads one to the conclusion that the only phenomena which we know of that is faster than the speed of light, is that of the speed of thought.
As for déjà vu, this is result of recognizing scenes from precognitive dreams, which eventually come to pass in your waking life. In my own case, typically the dream will be from one to three nights, or up to 3-6 months before the déjà vu reality happens. When I experience the déjà vu, I can usually tell how long ago it was that the dream took place. In such a case as this one, it should not be looked upon as an affliction or curse, but rather a step toward the higher dimensions.
The next important developmental step in my meditation technique came when I read Qigong For Tai Chi Chuan, by Dr. Yang Jwing Ming. The most important element of Qigong practice is the control and focus of the Intention (Yi) to guide one’s Energy (Qi) through correct breathing. As I have already described a mere glimpse at the potential which Qigong practice can unlock, this practice is not to be undertaken lightly, but rather with humility and respect. Through correct and patient Qigong practice, the practitioner becomes both the focal point of, and the conduit for the Earth Qi and the Universal Qi. (Look to my yellow avatar for a representation of this state of being.)
It would be impossible to underestimate the importance of the life and work of Edgar Cayce has played in my own understanding of the our place in the universe (see: the meaning of life). One of the very first books I read on the Cayce material was Edgar Cayce’s Story of Jesus, by Jeffrey Furst. This book was as interesting to read as it was a challenge to get through to the end. Furst uses many excerpts from the Readings, which to the uninitiated, can be like reading a poorly translated version of the Holy Bible. Apart from many details on the cosmic significance of Jesus the Christ in relation to our Earthly existence, Furst also shares a portion of Reading 281-29, in which the Sermon on the Mount is discussed. The reading states that the Lord’s Prayer should be spoken in correspondence with a focus upon the chakras, as such:
1 – Third Eye – Pituitary – White- Our father who art in heaven
2 – Crown – Pineal – Purple – Hallowed be thy name
3 – Throat – Thyroid – Blue – Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
4 – Heart – Thymus – Green – On earth as it is in heaven
7 – Perineum – Testes – Red – Give us this day our daily bread
5 – Abdomen – Adrenal – Yellow – Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors
6 – Pubis – Gonads – Orange – And lead us not into temptation
4 – Heart – Thymus – Green – But deliver us from evil
3 – Throat – Thyroid – Blue – For thine is the kingdom
2 – Crown – Pineal – Purple – And the power
1 – Third Eye – Pituitary – White – And the glory forever, Amen
There are many who believe that the Third Eye corresponds to the Pineal Gland, and that the Crown corresponds to the Pituitary Gland. Cayce reading 281-29 gets to the truth of the matter:
5. (Q) Which is the highest gland in the body – the pineal or the pituitary?
(A) The pituitary!
25. (Q) Pituitary – Heaven?
(A) Correct. In all of its activities these open, for the upward lift of the thoughts of man as in relationships to that which becomes – how has it been given? – “He is alpha, omega, the beginning and the end.” Hence as we find in its relationships to man, it becomes then the beginnings, the endings, of all things.
EC 281-29
A recent breakthrough in understanding came with the focus of intention of the Torus to the breathing pattern. The shape of the Torus can be found at every level in nature, from the shape of the atomic structure, to the magnetic field of the earth, and likely the magnetic field of our galaxy… and Universe! The goal is to guide the particle energy through focused breath around a kaleidoscopic toroid projection. This is a concept which unites Qigong with Unified Field Theory. There are specific breathing techniques from the Cayce Readings, involving alternating nostrils, which physically jump-start the toroidal energy flow in the body.
The next step, for me personally, will be to learn the Wim Hof Method. Though it should be the next step for all of humanity, now that we are entering into the post-antibiotic world, where there will be fewer and fewer medicinal crutches upon which to rely to cure us of infectious disease.
In spite of all the technique talk, the absolute most important thing to do while in the process of quieting the mind, is to give loving thanks for this physical incarnation to God, the Creative Forces, the Great Spirit, Christ, the Great Architect, or whatever name you want to call the Universe. Follow this with a positive affirmation, and your intention in the right direction.
